THE Bed

Jeremy was messing around online one day and came across the story of a guy who built his kid a firetruck bed. He thought, "I could do that." He began researching and finding plans. Once he settled on his blueprint, there was no turning back.
For Jonah's 3rd birthday, he got a firetruck bed!
The process in pictures:

Pausing from painting to watch a plane fly over

"Look, Daddy, an airplane!"

Apparently it wasn't enough to paint the boards.

Almost ready!

Jeremy put it all together (with Uncle Micah's help) around 11 p.m. one night. Jonah insisted on staying up to see it finished.
You know when you give someone a gift expecting a huge response and instead they just quietly thank you?
This was not one of those times.

This kid was psyched!

But he pretty quickly crashed out.

Since these pics, Jeremy has added a steering wheel, levers, switches, an ignition, and a slide with storage steps.
Every time Jonah prays, he almost always prays the same thing:
"God, thank You for my firetruck bed and my baby brother. Amen."

Fireman Jonah

At the end of the month, Jonah turned 3. He had been telling me for months that he wanted a fire truck birthday party. We have a fire station just down the road from us, so we got a tour of the trucks, then came home for hot dogs, cake, and presents.

Birthday #1... about 5 months late...

So having 2 kids means not having time for much else it seems. I just realized that I haven't updated since before their birthdays! So... here goes:
Sam turned 1 on July 1st. We had a small party at home with just close family members. He loved his chocolate cake and his many presents!

Big Bro picked out this cup as his gift for his little brother

Birthday Portraits

Okay, I cannot believe that Sam is one and Jonah will be 3 in just a couple weeks! Crazy!
Some updates on each cutie:
Jonah- He is most definitely in the "why" stage. My day is filled with constant questions. "Mommy, what is that truck doing? Why is it sitting there? What's it called? Where is it going?" All. Day. Long. He loves to watch movies and cuddle up and read. Jonah likes doing "science experiments" like baking soda/vinegar, playing with food coloring, etc. He also has started learning how to sound out words. He plays pretend constantly. He is our helper with Sammy, yelling things like, "Heading for the Jackie water (the dog's bowl)! Heading for the toilet! Heading for the door!" So helpful. He also He is super excited about his upcoming birthday party! Whenever we hurt ourselves, Jonah says, "I'm sorry that happened." So sweet. He is a sweet, cuddly, smart, adorable kid.
Samuel- This one is LOUD! He often yells in the middle of dinner, then goes right back to eating. It's a happy yell, so it's actually pretty funny. He loves to read. He'll bring a book, saying "buh! buh!", put it in our hands, then turn around and plop down in our lap to hear the story. He loves to eat, as I'm sure you can tell by the pictures! He adores his brother, calling him "bubba" and following him around all day. He can climb on anything and everything. He protests loudly when he's told no or if Jonah takes a toy from him. (He's also very strong and stubborn!) He now says "mama," "dada," "bubba," "bah" (ball), "buhsh" (brush), and some animal sounds. At the end of a prayer, he starts yelling "ameh" for "amen." One of his hobbies is lifting up the shirt of any one of us laying down and blowing raspberries on our bellies. He'll lift his shirt and giggle if you ask where his belly is. He keeps us entertained and on our toes!
We got their birthday pictures made a couple of weeks ago and these are some of my favorites:

Pretty accurate:

Okay, he looks way too old!!

Jonah's lopsided grin. Silly kid.

"I don't normally pose for pictures, but when I do, it's unbearably cute":

Frightened smile?

We are seriously in love with these two boys!
